Welcome to the Tunnel project site! For those of you who don't know, I (Candi XD) and a host of other students have taken it upon ourselves to paint the Tunnel that runs under our school. On this page I will be keeping a photo journal of what we do from day to day.For a description of what each picture contains, hover the cursor over it! But first, let's introduce our creators!

Day 1 - April 27,2004
Well today was the beginning. I think today would be the hardest part. First we had to transfer all of the paint from the cans to little containers, which was very messy. Thank goodness for the usual crowd that hangs out in the art room, or it would have taken us forever. We all pitched in and we all got the paint to the plastic containers with as little mess as we could manage. After that, Cindy and Ms. P got to ride in the elevator with the supplies while I had to take the stairs. I'd like to say I rode in our school elavator atleast once, but it's very small and inefficient >< Anywho, we finally got down there and it was dark as well...a very dark place. We spent a while looking for the switch and ir turns out it was right under our noses. Duh. Anyway, once we finally got down in where we were working I remembered how decrepid that tunnel actually is. The first part is an entrance way and the floor was all dusty and had water stains in the door that connects the entrance with the actual tunnel. Priscilla says we shouldn't paint anything important there and I agree...Not only so that nothing important gets wrecked, but also because I wouldn't want to offend anything living in the puddles XP ANYWAY despite the fact that we are painting in a crud hole, when Ms. P asked that the floor be mopped (it is so dusty it's gross >< and we don't want it getting on the walls when we paint) the janitor still said 'Don't get Paint on the floor!". Go figure. So we got to work. I started painting my mermaid and Cindy painted her water effects on the inner wall. I got myself all dirty and Cindy spent most of the afternoon on her cell with her BF Wes lol! Cindy finnished her part, but I still have alot to do for my mermaid yet. She kinda looks like a sea hag right now >< I also slammed into the door with a bucket of water on our way back to the art room during clean-up >< So far everything is going well, and we have plans for a surfer dude next XD I am so tired, but it's all worth it XD More tommorrow!
Day 2 - May 04,2004
Well we FINALLY got back into the tunnel. last Wednesday we had a substitute teacher, and we couldn't go down. Cindy went down there for her spare, so Daniel and I met her there during lunch. By the time I got there, she had basically completed the wall she had been working on before. I started back on my Mermaid, and then got into a paint fight with Daniel, and ended up with black paint on my face. It was funny because the rest of the afternoon alot of people were telling me about the paint on my face. This one Grade 11 girl told me very shyly and I thought that was cute of her. Although he did paint fight, Daniel also gave Michelle the idea to make a sunken ship on the wall! So that'll look really cool! Anywho we continued through the afternoon, joined by Michelle for her first time down this week. We all worked on our walls and chatted and had a good ol time. Michelle discovered that we had alot of company with us this afternoon too. She kept finding spiders and ants and cobwebs. Cindy and I thought it was pretty gross, since we hate bugs XP I didn't scare for some reason though and just kept on working. Shows the quality of our working condition huh? Yucky. Then while Cindy was painting her Nemo fish, I was painting the blue above her and uh, kinda got blue paint in her hair! I felt so bad >< lol Poor Cindy! And then I dripped blue paint on her Nemo! I am so clumsy!! >< But she didn't get mad (thank goodness). Well that about sums up the events of the day! Here's some pics! Check us out!
Day 3 - May 05,2004
Since today was Wednesday, we didn't get a heck of alot of work done, but we still accomplished a bit. Cindy finnished off Nemo and I put some more detail into my treasure chest during the lunch hour. We had our beloved regulars with us, as well as being joined by Ashley, who watched us paint. Ashley and Norman got into an arm wrestle and she won! Go Ashley XD! Evan also came down and joined us, and he painted Squishy on the corner of the wall. (Squishy is our inside joke XD He was drawing a snake one day and I commented on how cute it was, so Evan tried desparately to make it look evil and un-cute, but he still looked cute, and we named him Squishy) BUT, someone threw thier lunch down the stairs today, so Evan got nacho cheese all over his bag and the pic of the original Squishy he left on the outside stairs. These stupid people just chucked their lunch right down the stairs leading down to the tunnel! Jack asses! >< Well, here's some more pictures! I think I am putting too much detail in my mermaid scene! it's taking so long!
Day 4 - May 11,2004
Ah another fun Tuesday afternoon. We all hung out a bit before we went down there, and had a few good laughs. It was Cindy and Wes' 1 Month anniversay, so Cindy was in a good mood (even though she felt sick) and left me and Michelle down in the Tunnel for most of first block to talk to him on the phone. Michelle brought her discman, so we actually had music today XD I FINNISHED MY WALL! The mermaid, the turtles, everything is done! Yay! Cindy was nice enough to help me with the sea weed and the waves at the top, and she corrected some of the drips on the bottom. Michelle also finnished her wall, and got us our equipment to start preping the other walls.(Poor Michelle split it all over her pants XP lol) Those walls are the dirtiest thing ever. But now I can paint my cave scene, and Michelle has decided that her final painting will be a dolphin on the inside part of the Tunnel. Picture time!!
Day 5 - May 18,2004
Another fun Tuesday. Things were a bit delayed today because Ms. P was in the School Pie throwing XD She was one of the teachers who volenteered to get pie thrown at her. She's such a good sport. Anywho, I began working on my cave. Since the cave was so high up, I had to tape my brush to a stick and use it. It worked out fine, although the brush is now dead X_X The texture of the wall just ate the brush alive. Katie and Karen visited. Me, Cindy, Michelle and Evan basically just hung out all afternoon. Cindy DID turn the lights out on us though lol! The cave shouldn't take too long, it's already mostly done. Michelle also did some work on her dolphin, which will be her final contribution to the Tunnel.
Day 6 - May 25,2004
Well, I was in a bad mood today, so this actually got my spirits up to an exceptable standard. I painted my shark and added some vines to the cave. The shark needs alot more work though, and isn't nearly vicious enough for me. Then I began painting my octapous, who I have dubbed 'Jaques, the flamboyant octapus'. and Evan dubbed the shark 'Nipper'. He's the black sheep of the Flipper family. Speaking of Evan, he started painting a dragon type thing, and spent the rest of the afternoon making noises and playing with a cardboard tube. Cindy and Michelle didn't come down with me today, so there's nothing to update for them. Ah well, picture time!
Day 7 - Final Day - June 1,2004
Well, today we decided it would be our final day down in the Tunnel. I finnished up my shark wall, Cindy painted the rails and Evan...well, he video taped us and we wanted to kill him. Daniel and Megan came down to check the place out and Daniel did this awesome echo laugh that scared the crap out of Megan XD We had alot of laughs today, it was so much fun. I also accidentally touched Cindy's rail 3 times in a row -_-" I'm so dumb. We also found a spider down there that Cindy was screaming at and trying to squish. Anywho, this is the final update people. I must say I am going to miss spending my Tuesday's down there. This was one of the funnest projects I've ever done.
